After Dark
Caoimhe Kilfeather and Mark Swords
12 May - 16 June 2011
This two-person exhibition brings together two divergent yet acclaimed practices. The pairing of Caoimhe Kilfeather and Mark Swords juxtaposes two different forms of object making, sculpture and two-dimensional works, where crossover territories may be found in a shared intrigue in materials,
in an engagement with labour, construction and fabrication and in a pared back aesthetic that retains a tangible edge – what Caoimhe Kilfeather calls ‘a correlative sense of touch’.
It is perhaps possible that within the pairing of two distinct practices and in the close proximity of their work within the gallery structure, that something unexpected might unfold.
Mark Swords graduated with an MA from NCAD in 2003. Swords is the resent winner of 2010 AIB Prize. He currently lives and works in County Wicklow. Caoimhe Kilfeather studied at NCAD (BA) and the Slade School of Fine Art, London (MA). Currently artist-in-residence at the Fire Station Artists Studios, Dublin and recipient of the 2011 Fred Conlon Award.
